An accomplished and award-winning producer and director with over 20 years of experience in cinema, TV and theatre from inception to completion.
Athena was a member of the jury for the International Emmy Awards from 2001 to 2006.
In 2004 she was selected by the European Union and the Cyprus Ministry of Culture to represent Cypriot filmmakers at the Cannes Film Festival.
Athena studied English Literature and Music at the University of Switzerland. She received a BA in Cinema at the University of California Santa Barbara and a MA in Media and International Relations at the University of Nicosia.
In the US, she produced three short films in collaboration with the University of California and the American Film Institute.
Her first feature film, Unwitnessed Memories, won a Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival and a distinction at the International Human Rights Film Festival in Prague and International Documentary Festival Amsterdam. It received Best Documentary at the Cyprus International Film Festival and was an International Emmy Awards semi-finalist.
From 2001-2006 she worked for Fremantle SA and MEGA TV in Greece, directing the first two seasons of Survivor, The Farm and Celebrity Farm.
Her collaboration with the Cyprus Theatre Organization in 2008 and 2014 resulted in three nominations and a win at the National Theatre Awards.
Athena directed episodes for 3 drama Tv series Krifos Keadas for Sigma TV, Roua Mat for Ant1 and Osa Den Ksereis for CYBC.
Barry Cook (director of Oscar nominated Disney film Mulan) and Athena are co-writing Socrates & Soc, a 3D animated film in development.
Her passion for teaching started early on. Today, she teaches Acting for Film and Theatre, using Method, Stella Adler, Meisner and Uta Hagen technique. Xenidou heads her own Drama Studio which produces Acting Showcases and she is a Guest Lecturer at the European University and University of Cyprus.
2017-2019, she was a producer at MOI Worldwide, a visual creative agency and production house. She produced many campaigns for clients such as CYTA, University of Nicosia and Eurolife. In 2019 she produced a prequel short film, Prevail for TBD Media, UK.
Deeply committed to charity work and a member of Rotary Club Nicosia since 2013.
Her yearly theatrical productions donate all proceeds to charities such as The Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family, Action for Equality, Support and Antiracism.
Καταξιωμένη παραγωγός και σκηνοθέτης, με εμπειρία είκοσι χρόνων στον κινηματογράφο, την τηλεόραση και το θέατρο.
Με σπουδές στη Μουσική και την Αγγλική Λογοτεχνία στην Ελβετία, πτυχίο στον Κινηματογράφο από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Καλιφόρνιας, εκπαίδευση σε μεταπτυχιακή ταινία στο American Film Institute και Μεταπτυχιακό στις Διεθνές Σχέσεις και Media από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Λευκωσίας.
Η Αθηνά ήταν μέλος της επιτροπής των International Emmy Awards για έξι συνεχείς χρονιές και το 2004, καλεσμένη από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και το Υπουργείο Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού, αντιπροσώπευσε τους Κύπριους παραγωγούς και σκηνοθέτες στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου στις Κάννες.
Aνάμεσα στα βραβεία που απέσπασε περιλαμβάνονται το Special Jury Prize στο Worldfest Houston International Film Festival και διάκριση στο International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam για την ταινία της Unwitnessed Memories.
Στην Ελλάδα εργάστηκε για την Fremantle και το MEGA TV, σκηνοθετώντας τηλεοπτικά σόου όπως το Survivor 1 και 2.
Με 24 θεατρικέςπαραστάσεις στο ενεργητικό της, η αγάπη της για το θέατρο μεγαλώνει και ενδυναμώνεται μέσα απ’ τον χρόνο. Διδάσκει σε Σχολές Καλών Τεχνών και δίνει σεμινάρια Θεάτρου και Κινηματογράφου σε πανεπιστήμια.
Η συνεργασία της με τον Κρατικό Θέατρο Κύπρου -ΘΟΚ – σκηνοθέτησε το έργο Η Πέτρα το 2007 και Το Κουτί με τις Σκιές 2014 της χάρισε τρεις Υποψηφιότητες και ένα Βραβείο στα Θεατρικά Βραβεία Κύπρου.
Εδώ και δέκα χρόνια κάνει παραγωγές με την ομάδα της The Drama Studio για φιλανθρωπικό σκοπό. Τα έσοδα δίνονται σε οργανισμούς όπως τον Σύνδεσμο για την Πρόληψη και την Αντιμετώπιση της Βίας στην Οικογένεια, Σύνδεσμο Οικογενειακού Προγραμματισμού, Σπίτι του Παιδιού, Σύνδεσμο Στήριξης Ατόμων με τη Νόσο Αλτσχάιμερ, Action for Equality, Support and Antiracism και Hope for Children.
Εργάστηκε ως παραγωγός στην MOI Worldwide 2017-19 και ανέλαβε καμπάνιες όπως CytaMobile Vodafone και University of Nicosia.
Το 2019 συνεργάστηκε με την TBD Media Group στο Ηνωμένο Βαςίλειο, ως παραγωγός μιας μικρού μήκους πολεμικής κινηματογραφικής ταινίας , Prevail.
